How to install and connect Smartlead to your Attio workspace.
Before you start
You'll need:
- An Attio workspace where you have permission to install apps
- A Smartlead account with an active API key
Finding your Smartlead API key
- Log in to Smartlead
- Go to Settings
- Open the API Key tab
- Copy your API key — you'll paste it into Attio in the next step
Step 1: Install the app
Install Smartlead for Attio from the Attio App Store like any other app.
Step 2: Open the app settings
- In Attio, go to Settings → Apps
- Find Smartlead in your list of installed apps and open it
Step 3: Enter your API key
- Paste your Smartlead API key into the Smartlead API Key field
- Click Test Connection
You should see a green banner confirming "Connected to Smartlead successfully." If you see a red error instead, double-check that you copied the whole key with no extra spaces — see Troubleshooting if it still doesn't work.
Step 4: Connect
Once the test succeeds, click Connect.
This does two things automatically, in the background:
- It tells Smartlead to start sending Attio updates whenever something happens in your campaigns (an email is sent, opened, clicked, replied to, bounces, or a lead's status changes)
- It adds a set of Smartlead fields to your People records in Attio, so there's somewhere for that information to go
You don't need to configure anything else — once you see the Connected status, the integration is live and will start syncing data as your campaigns run.
What happens next
