Notes & Tasks

How the integration keeps a record of activity and reminds you to follow up.

Notes: a timeline of every interaction

Every meaningful event from Smartlead is logged as a Note on the relevant Person record in Attio, so you get a complete timeline without checking Smartlead separately:

  • Email sent
  • Email opened
  • Link clicked
  • Reply received (including the reply text)
  • Email bounced (including the bounce reason)
  • Unsubscribed
  • Category changed (including a summary of the conversation)

This means anyone looking at a Person's record in Attio — sales, support, leadership — can see the full history of your outreach to them without needing access to Smartlead.

Tasks: automatic reply reminders

Whenever a lead replies to a campaign email, the integration creates a Task automatically:

  • The task is linked to the person's record and due the next day
  • It's assigned to a workspace member based on your Reply Handoff settings: first, the record's configured owner attribute (if you've set one and it has a value); otherwise, a fallback default assignee (if you've set one). If neither is configured, the task is created with no assignee.
  • It's meant as a nudge to make sure replies don't sit unanswered

You don't need to set this up to get a task created — it happens for every reply, on every campaign, as soon as the integration is connected. Configuring who it's assigned to is optional; see Settings.

What you don't need to do manually

  • You don't need to log emails yourself
  • You don't need to create tasks to follow up on replies
  • You don't need to check Smartlead to see if someone bounced or unsubscribed — it's reflected on their Attio record automatically
