Troubleshooting

Common issues when connecting or using the Smartlead integration.

"Test Connection" fails

  • Make sure you copied the entire API key from Smartlead, with no extra spaces before or after
  • Confirm the API key is still active in Smartlead under Settings → API Key — keys can be regenerated, which invalidates the old one
  • Make sure your Smartlead account/subscription is active

I clicked Connect but nothing seems to be syncing

  • Syncing only happens for new activity going forward — connecting the app does not import your historical campaign data. You'll start seeing Notes, Tasks, and List updates as new emails go out and leads respond
  • Check that the campaigns you expect to sync are actually active and sending in Smartlead

A lead isn't showing up in Attio

  • The integration matches leads by email address. If a lead's Attio record exists under a different or misspelled email, a new Person may be created instead of updating the existing one
  • Make sure the campaign has actually sent that lead at least one email — People are only created on the first email sent

The Smartlead fields aren't visible on a Person record

  • These fields are only added to the People object, not Companies
  • If you don't see them, check that you're looking at the People object's fields (they may need to be added to your current view — this is a normal Attio record view setting, not something the integration controls)

I disconnected and reconnected, and now I'm not sure if it worked

  • After reconnecting, click Test Connection again to confirm — you should see the green "Connected to Smartlead successfully" banner
  • Reconnecting reuses your existing webhook where possible, so you won't end up with duplicate data
