What Syncs Automatically
Every event the integration keeps in sync between Instantly and Attio.
Once connected, the integration listens for activity in your Instantly campaigns and reflects it in Attio in real time. You don't need to refresh or import anything — it just appears.
Every event, first
Whatever happens — sent, opened, clicked, bounced, replied, or anything else Instantly reports — the integration always does this first:
- Finds or creates a Person in Attio, matched by email address
- Finds or creates a Company, matched by the lead's email domain (skipped for personal email domains like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, etc. unless a company name was also supplied)
- Updates the person's name, job title, and phone number if that information is available and wasn't already set
- Adds the person to that campaign's List and updates their status field to the event that just happened (see Campaign Lists)
Events that don't include a lead's email address are ignored — there's nothing to match them to.
Sent, opened, clicked, bounced, unsubscribed
For these events, a Note is added to the person's record summarizing what happened, when, which campaign it was, and the email subject line (when available):
- Email sent
- Email opened
- Link clicked
- Email bounced
- Unsubscribed
Bounced and unsubscribed events can also flip a Yes/No field on the person's record, if you've told the app which field to use. See Deliverability hygiene. A Note is added either way, even if you haven't configured a field.
Replies and "Interested" leads
This is the most important set of events:
- Reply received (including auto-replies)
- Marked Interested
For both:
- A Note is added with the reply text and a link back to the conversation in Instantly, when available
- A follow-up Task is created automatically, due the next day, so a teammate follows up — see Notes & Tasks
Being marked Interested additionally triggers pipeline logic if you've turned it on — see Leads & Deals.
Other lead statuses
Instantly reports several other statuses as a campaign progresses — not interested, neutral, meeting booked, meeting completed, closed, out of office, wrong person, campaign completed, and account errors, plus any custom labels your workspace uses. These update the person's status in the campaign List (see Campaign Lists) but don't create a Note, Task, or Deal on their own.
What doesn't sync automatically
- Historical activity. Connecting the app only starts syncing new activity going forward — it won't backfill everything that already happened in a campaign.
- A fixed set of "Instantly" fields on People. Unlike some other outreach integrations, this app doesn't add a block of Instantly-specific fields (lead ID, campaign ID, category, etc.) to every Person. The only optional fields it writes to are the bounced/unsubscribed flags described above, if you've configured them.
